I miss it. I miss the friends I made and the music we played together. It was the best period of my life. Band Camp. I would wake up quickly, finish my bowl of coco puffs and race to get ready and go to school. But not regular classes, just the best one, Music class. There was my safe zone. I wasn't a jock or a popular kid. I was a proud band geek. The term band geek sounds negative, but all of us made it positive. It was our way to express ourselves. Now I look back at my band friends and see many of us have moved on with our lives, Some our married, some are career-focused and some of us actually became band directors at other schools. I took quite a different path myself. I am a kindergarten teacher on the other side of the world in China. I never would have guessed ten years ago haha. But I use music to teach my students and I remember every lesson and every time we had to stop our marching band practice because too many of us made mistakes. Standing in the hot sun, sweating bullets and checking our dot books. (A small notebook used to keep track of your position on the football field.)

This blog is to help build a community of those who love marching band and concert band!

We can do anything together!
